**Who is the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator?**
The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as a national entity responsible for
regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. Located in Brisbane, the NHVR minimises the
compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across state and
territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.

**Environment**

whilst enabling greater safety and productivity. The Statutory Compliance Division ensures compliance with regulatory

policy, strategy and standards through investigation and prosecution of significant noncompliance and providing
intelligence services throughout NHVR.
**Primary Objectives**
Reporting to the Practice Manager NSW the Paralegal will provide administrative support to the NHVR prosecutions team.
**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities**
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Preparation of legal documents and correspondence;
- Assisting prosecutors with case management;
- Assisting prosecutors with rostering court appearances;
- Preparing, filing and arranging service of charge paperwork and briefs of evidence;
- Reviewing briefs of evidence to obtain relevant records and certificates;
- Conduct legal research;
- Enagaging with the community and partner agencies to communicate information around prosecutions;
- Prepare reports on current files, court results and others.
- Administrative tasks such as daily mail and filing.
- Adhere to all NHVR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NHVR internal processes.
- Comply with WH&S policies and procedures and contribute and promote a safe and healthy work environment.
**Skills and Capabilities**
- Demonstrated ability to provide sound advice to the parties to legal disputes that may impact on the decisions
they make.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare quality written materials to support NHVR’s response to legal challenges.
- Experience working in an administrative field ideally within the legal industry
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills
**Qualifications and Experience**
**Highly Regarded**:
- The incumbent is expected to handle confidential and sensitive material and adhere to all relevant guidelines in
relation to confidentiality, disclosure of information, impartiality and conflict of interest.
- Some out of hours work and intrastate and interstate travel necessitating overnight absences will be required.
- A current driver’s licence is essential.
- Extensive experience in the preparation of legal documents.
