**About the Opportunity**
Based in Henderson, WA and reporting to the General Manager - Class Services (MCS), this position will work closely with key program stakeholders, and is accountable for providing planning services and support across all Multi Class Sustainment (MCS) programs, including the efficient planning and close out of all work packages.
In doing this, the position will contribute to the achievement of the certification of submarine maintenance commitments, schedules and overall program deliverables, including through aligning activities with ASC’s Strategy, and assisting ASC to meet any relevant contractual deliverables. Working with the MCS leadership team, the position is required to maintain a strategic perspective of the entire business and take into account a wide range of longer-term issues, opportunities and risks to ensure ongoing business success.
The Head of Planning provides leadership to the Planning team, ensuring team members are provided with direction and attainable yet challenging performance targets. The role will lead a team across areas including: Collins Class Submarine (CCSM) Maintenance Activities (including Operational Project Maintenance), support to Life of Type Extension (LOTE) and SSN Sustainment.
Key dependencies of this role include Integrated master project plan, cost baselines and schedules developed by project delivery team.
**Responsibilities**
- Develop and execute the Planning strategy/plan for CCSM, LOTE & SSN Sustainment programs, while identifying potential risks, and developing mitigation strategies for these
- Effectively manage, track, report and reallocate budget as necessary to ensure optimised allocation across engineering and planning
- Develop Planning frameworks for decision making and governance arrangements to empower teams to make informed decisions
- Oversee and support Planning services for CCSM, LOTE & SSN Sustainment programs.
- Report on Planning function performance and compliance in accordance with business and program requirements
- Set clear and consistent guardrails where employees understand the organisations expectations and communicate with team members to ensure the team have a clear understanding of the wider business strategy and goals
**About You**
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, business, management or similar
- 10+ years’ experience in a project management, planning or operations role (ideally in defence/shipbuilding)
- Experience using Primavera P6
- Proficiency and experience in creation of engineering work packages for large scale projects
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement interventions and high-quality solutions to complex problems
- Ability to lead high performing teams in complex environments
**Eligibility**
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
