About us

As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners.

Purpose of the role

The Digital Learning Deployment unit coordinates the management, development, maintenance and deployment of electronic learning (e-learning) training packages and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that utilises Extended Reality (ER) hardware, digital software systems, and innovative content to support the maintenance of skills acquisition and professional development through accredited and non-accredited courses across QFES and regional training environments. The team communicates across QFES services and engages with capability owners to ensure the content and delivery of products is relevant, current, fit-for-purpose, and assessment tools are mapped to support the requirements of the Registered Training Authority (RTO) and industry standards for qualifications that are nationally recognised for operational staff and volunteers.

Key requirements

Highly desirable requirements
- Possession of a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and/or accredited tertiary qualification in adult education or can obtain the skill within a mutually agreed timeframe.
- Knowledge and experience and/or qualifications in digital, multimedia or information technology learning packages, including video and audio production and editing.

Your key accountabilities

Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:

- Contribute to the design, development and production of engaging digital content, including interface and web design for digital learning packages and resources, in line with agreed learning models and frameworks.
- Maintain and manage existing and new products and systems to ensure instructors, staff and volunteers digital equipment and content is ready for the delivery of on-line and/or blended learning courses.
- Manage, support and coordinate the deployment of equipment and resources to state and regional training centres/areas, within agreed timeframes to ensure the successful delivery of learning.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders relating to immersive learning technology and associated initiatives to ensure continuous improvement to service delivery.
