**The Role**
Defence Media is looking for energetic media professionals (APS4-APS6) who thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment to join our fast-paced team on a permanent basis.
As a Media Advisor, you will work as part of a small team that is responsible for:
- Actioning and facilitating incoming media enquiries and interview requests in a timely manner;
- Proof reading and editing Departmental and Ministerial media releases and alerts;
- Pitching stories and proactive media opportunities;
- Coordinating communication support to major Defence events, engagements and military exercises;
- Providing public affairs support and guidance across the department; and liaising with the Office of the Secretary, Office of the Chief of Defence force and Ministerial Offices as required.
**About our Team**
Based at the centre of Defence Headquarters at Russell Offices, the Defence Media team works with journalists and our four Ministerial offices to answer media questions and pitch stories that supports the work of the Australian Defence Force.
The team works in a fast paced and dynamic environment that requires sound judgement and awareness of media matters. The stories we manage are diverse and interesting. From providing support to the Australian community, responding to natural disasters in our near region, commissioning new ships or announcing new capabilities, every day is different and exciting.
