**The Role**
The key duties of the role include the management and analysis of complex information related to the Inspector General of the ADF (IGADF) Afghanistan Inquiry. As an APS 5 and APS 6 Information and Records Management Officer you will assist the team in ensuring information is managed in accordance with the Defence Security Principles Framework, Freedom of Information Act 1982 and the National Security Information (Criminal and Civil Proceedings) Act 2004.

Both roles involve liaising with internal and external stakeholders including various Groups and Services, Australian Geospatial Organisation, the Office of the Special Investigator, Australian Signals Directorate, Attorney-General’s Department and the Australian Federal Police. The successful applicant should be skilled at working collaboratively within a team to achieve deadlines.

**About our Team**
The Afghanistan Inquiry Response Task Force (AIRTF) is the lead for Defence’s response to the Afghanistan Inquiry, which was initiated by Defence in 2016 to determine whether there was any substance to rumours and allegations relating to possible breaches of the Law of Armed Conflict by members of the Special Operations Task Group in Afghanistan between 2005 and 2016.

The AIRTF has a number of direct responsibility tasks including:

- Support to senior Defence leadership relating to the Afghanistan Inquiry;
- Coordination of strategic communication;
- Development, oversight and delivery of the Afghanistan Inquiry Reform Plan;
- Legal coordination relating to Defence interests including civil litigation and criminal matters; and
- Coordination of access to Defence information related to legal and other consequences of the Afghanistan Inquiry.

The Information Access and Assurance team is responsible for:

- The coordination of the release of information to requesting entities;
- Coordinating all requests for information related to the Inquiry;
- Support to enable controlled access and ensure physical security of information.
