The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is an independent government agency which, in partnership with Basin governments, manages the Murray-Darling Basin’s water resources in the national interest. With the enactment of the Water Act 2007, the MDBA was established as an independent expertise-based statutory agency.

The MDBA aims to achieve a healthy working Basin for the benefit of all Australians. The Murray-Darling Basin contains a rich diversity of natural environments that are unique in Australia and the world. The Basin is also crucial to Australia’s economy and home to 2.3 million Australians, including people from over 40 First Nations. How we manage the Basin as a whole connected system, manage our water carefully, and protect it for future generations is set out in the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.

**The Position**

Our Executive Assistants at the APS 5 classification provide support to up to 2 high-level executives within the MDBA and are trusted with complex duties and sensitive information. Executive Assistants generally ensure the smooth-running of the office, working closely with their Executive and an Executive Officer, and on a broader scale with internal and external clients and stakeholders.

**Your key responsibilities in this role are to**:

- Work closely with the Portfolio’s Executive Officer in providing administrative and coordination support
- Act as the point of contact between the executives and internal or external stakeholders.
- Monitor and track incoming information to ensure correspondence is triaged and actioned accordingly
- Coordinate agenda’s, correspondence, talking points, briefs, and other communications
- Liaise with stakeholders and assist with the resolution of policy, project or operational issues, responding to their needs and expectations as required
- Assist with development of reports and presentations to support executive.
- Maintain the current filing and database system, and looking for ways to improve current systems
- Work with the broader Executive Assistant cohort to improve the flow of information and efficiency of the MDBA
- Proactively assist and pre-empt the priorities for your Executive.
