If so, you might be the person we are looking for to be an APS5 Project Officer within Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group, located in Canberra, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Cairns or Darwin.

An APS5 Project Officer is accountable for organising their workflow and making decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will interpret and provide advice within the Project function based on legislation, policy and procedures. They will undertake specialist research and analysis, conduct reviews and perform procedural and administrative support work to achieve results.

The APS5 Project Officer will coordinate and contribute to the work of a team consistent to a work plan and provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members. They may be accountable to set work priorities, and manage workflows and performance. They are expected to be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within a work unit.

The APS5 Project Officer may be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development and professional development.

As an APS5 Project Officer you will be required to demonstrate a range of skills, however the specific competencies below are considered critical to success within APS Project Management roles.

- Write and report - able to write clearly, succinctly and correctly, convince through writing, and structure documents.
- Analyse information - probe for clarity, produce solutions, make judgements, and think systemically.
- Planning and organising - set objectives, plan, establish contingencies, manage time, resources and people, and monitor progress.
- Adapting and responding to change - accept new ideas, adapt to interpersonal styles, show sensitivity to different cultures or backgrounds and deal with ambiguity at work.
