**Position Information**:
Cessnock High School has an enrolment of 662 from diverse socio-economic backgrounds (FOEI 156), consisting of 11 support classes (2 ED, 2 AU, 2 IM, 3 MC, 1 IO and suspension centre). 39% of students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The school works with the Korreil Wonnai AECG and has strong partnerships with local primary partner schools.

Students are supported through curriculum structures focusing on academic and social needs of the cohort. The school is dedicated to producing life-long learners and meeting the needs of each student on their individual educational pathway. Through the strategic implementation of quality teaching rounds, wellbeing and transition programs and community partnerships the school has made positive progress which has led to improved student outcomes.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria;

1. Highly visible, collaborative, approachable and inspiring leader who demonstrates success in building positive relationships and promoting effective partnerships that enhance the wellbeing of staff, students and the school community.

2. High level strategic leadership with the experience to lead, develop and evaluate whole school quality teaching and learning with a sustained focus on evidence based practice to improve all student outcomes.

3. Proven ability to establish genuine partnerships with the AECG and deliver transformative programs and initiatives to engage Aboriginal students, families and the community that will lead to improved student outcomes.

4. Demonstrated commitment to and experience in leading inclusive education initiatives that support students with diverse learning needs, including students with disabilities, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring equitable access to high-quality learning and transition opportunities.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
