**Position Information**:
Fassifern Public School is a small school in Lake Macquarie West on Awabakal land. It is a dynamic and caring educational environment providing students with access to quality teaching and learning within a diverse and balanced curriculum. We have three mainstream multi-stage classes, and various part-time specialist teachers, including an Assistant Principal, Curriculum and Instruction, and a designated Learning and Support Teacher. We work within a proud Aboriginal community. 25% of our students identify as Aboriginal.
Our school has a strong community bond, and this continues to grow. Each student in the school is seen as an individual, worthy of value and care, and the curriculum is planned accordingly, catering for each child's needs. Commitment to learning is valued as is commitment to each other's success. Staff, parents, families, and the community strive to provide a positive learning environment for all students, based on realising each child's individual potential for learning and achieving. We value individualised learning that caters for specific needs, with a strong emphasis on positive recognition of all students.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.
1. Demonstrated successful school leadership experience in creating a school culture that is focused on learning, built on educational aspiration and performance improvement in partnership with the entire school community.
2. Proven ability to lead the collective responsibility for student learning and success, which is shared by parents and students informed by sound holistic information about each student's wellbeing and learning needs in consultation with parents.
3. Demonstrated strong, visible and present leadership that has been proven to engage the entire school community and ensures that teaching and learning takes place in a safe and culturally aware environment with high expectations for all students enabling them to connect, succeed and thrive.
4. Proven ability to develop and implement exemplary classroom teaching practice which delivers high quality learning and improved outcomes for students, whilst meeting the complex demands of leading and managing a school.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
