**The role**
If you're passionate about strengthening local government performance and want to lead a team that drives real change across councils in NSW, this role is your opportunity to make a difference. As **Manager, Council Performance**, you’ll oversee a team dedicated to monitoring how councils plan their financial long-term sustainability and improve performance of effective service delivery. You will be establishing relationships with councils to directly inform regulatory action and support councils to meet their goals.

This is a fast-paced, high-impact role where you’ll manage complex financial and non-financial assessments, juggle competing priorities, and build strong partnerships across government and council stakeholders. You’ll also develop policy, shape strategy, and provide high-level advice to leadership and ministers on emerging issues, ensuring your insights help improve outcomes for communities across NSW.

**About you - skills and qualities we’re looking for**:

- Strong leadership experience managing teams in a high-volume, regulatory or government environment
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and build trusted relationships
- Proven experience delivering and managing strategic projects or programs, particularly in public sector contexts
- Sharp critical thinking with the experience or ability to interpret financial data and non-financial data to communicate complex information clearly and make recommendations
- Understanding of local government frameworks, financial sustainability, and regulatory environments would be an asset
- A proactive, adaptable mindset with a passion for public value and sector improvement

**What is an essential requirement**:

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent, relevant professional experience
