**Company Description**
Cannabis Council Australia has been established to improve policy, education, and innovation in the medicinal cannabis sector, with a focus on transparency and patient access.

Cannabis Council Australia collaborates with government leaders and key stakeholders to drive industry growth, increase regulatory support and better integrate medicinal cannabis into the Australian health system.

We're working towards a future in which all medicinal cannabis patients have the access and support they need to harness this treatment option.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will lead the strategic direction and operations of Cannabis Council Australia, with a focus on building influence, driving member engagement, and positioning the association as a leading authority in the industry. The CEO will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and other stakeholders to shape and execute initiatives that elevate the association’s profile, strengthen member value, and foster partnerships with key government, industry, and community leaders.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Strategic Leadership**:

- Develop and execute the association’s long-term strategic plan, ensuring alignment with industry needs and trends.
- Drive initiatives that enhance the association’s visibility and influence within the industry, government, and broader public.
- Monitor industry trends, challenges, and opportunities, ensuring the association is proactive in addressing issues that impact members.

**Advocacy and Policy Influence**:

- Lead the association’s advocacy efforts, representing the interests of members to government bodies, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, regulators, and influencers to shape policies and legislation that benefit the industry.
- Collaborate with the Board and relevant committees to develop and promote policy positions, white papers, and thought leadership initiatives.

**Membership Engagement and Growth**:

- Increase member engagement by delivering value-driven programs, services, and opportunities for networking, education, and business growth.
- Drive membership growth by identifying and engaging prospective members, including new businesses, startups, and key industry players.
- Oversee the development of events, workshops, and conferences that address member needs and enhance the association’s reputation.

**Stakeholder Collaboration**:

- Foster partnerships and collaborations with other industry bodies, research institutions, and international organisations to promote knowledge sharing and best practices.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the association, representing the organisation at public forums, media engagements, industry conferences, and networking events.
- Develop strong relationships with industry leaders, CEOs, and other key stakeholders to build a robust network of supporters.

**Operational Excellence**:

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the association, ensuring effective management of financial resources, personnel, and member services.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to ensure strong governance and transparency in decision-making and operations.
- Drive the development and implementation of processes that optimise the efficiency and effectiveness of the association’s operations.

**People Leadership**
- Build and lead a high-performing team by providing clear leadership, direction and support to employees, ensuring they have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
- Promote the empowerment and growth of staff by providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively and manage team performance to achieve individual and departmental goals.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and processes, taking timely and fair action in instances of unsatisfactory performance or conduct.
- Support and promote a working environment and services that are inclusive, accessible and celebrate diversity.
- Set team OKRs and KPIs in relation to patient/customer satisfaction, NPS, and monitor metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimisation.

**Qualifications**
- Senior leadership experience with a background in external stakeholder engagement, cohesive policy coordination and influence.
- Tertiary qualifications in business, policy, commerce, economics, law or related discipline or significant experience of parity
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a passion for innovation and growth.
