- About the Role We have a 12-month contract opportunity available for a Payroll Officer. This role is based at our modern Melbourne Head Office featuring a balcony, BBQ area, collaborative and quiet spaces and an abundance of natural light.
About the role
Working as part of a team, you will play a key role providing high-level support to the business and ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payments.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Processing high volume payroll, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.- Maintaining and updating accurate payroll data, including data collection and entry.- Processing calculations including back-payments, redundancy calculations, terminations and leave entitlements.- Providing support and guidance to employees on payroll-related matters.- Collaborating and communicating with internal stakeholders to resolve payroll related queries- Being proactive in investigating and assisting the team to fix issues.- Facilitating payroll adjustments for salary increments and contributing to month-end and year-end procedures.- Supporting the Payroll Helpdesk as required and ensure that tickets are resolved in a timely manner.- Interpreting relevant Awards and ensure compliance with internal policies and legislative requirements.
About you
You will also have:
- Ideally 5+ years’ experience in high volume payroll environment.- Experience with Chris21 is highly desirable.- Strong understanding of technical payroll practices and Australian payroll legislation, and complex payroll systems.- Knowledge of taxation laws and regulations including PAYG, ETP, Payroll Tax and Superannuation.- Experience interpreting Awards/EBAs would be highly beneficial.- Certificate IV in Payroll Administration or a Diploma in Payroll Services or a Degree in Accounting is highly desirable.
