An exciting and unique opportunity exists for a motivated, experienced individual to join the Office of the General Counsel as a Paralegal Officer at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

We are looking for an experienced paralegal officer to provide high quality and confidential legal administrative support to staff in the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) in the Public Administration Group. The Group delivers public sector legal, legislation and governance expertise and comprises the Cabinet Office, the Office of the General Counsel (OGC), Governance Branch and Strategic Communications.

The Paralegal Officer will work closely with the Senior Executive Assistant and the Administration Officer to support the Group in an administrative capacity.

Your Initiative, attention to detail, discretion, time management and excellent organisational skills are critical to success in this role. Outstanding interpersonal skills and an ability to work well with people within CLG and across the public sector are also vital, as is a commitment to providing excellent customer service.

**About the role**

You will work closely with other legal and administrative staff to provide paralegal and legal administrative support, as well as assist the Public Administration group more broadly. This includes:

- Assisting with managing OGC's information and document management systems and processes.
- Assisting OGC lawyers with discovery, FOI requests, preparing papers for counsel and external law firms, maintaining OGC's legal advice database and precedents.
- Preparing and processing briefs, correspondence and other material.
- Developing, managing and improving internal processes.

**About you**
- Demonstrated paralegal experience in a legal office environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven experience working in a team and ability to work well with a wide range of stakeholders
- Excellent attention to detail, initiative, time management and organisational skills
- Willingness and commitment to providing excellent customer service, including the ability to prioritise tasks, ensure deadlines are met and improve processes.
