About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to join ANZ’s Talent & Culture Division, to lead ANZ’s efforts to support First Nations employees, drive safety and inclusion and build cultural capability within the bank.
This role will play a pivotal role in driving the delivery of ANZ’s Australian First Nations Strategy across two priorities
- improving First Nations representation and experience, and building cultural intelligence and capability across the broader ANZ workforce.
This role will lead a team with direct responsibility for the design and delivery of relevant initiatives, while also collaborating with stakeholders across Talent & Culture and the bank to deliver meaningful change.

What will your day look like?
As the Head of First Nations Talent & Culture Lead, you are accountable for:
**Leadership & Strategy**: Lead, influence and execute ANZ's people priorities for First Nations employment, including First Nations recruitment, retention, and professional development, and broader workforce cultural capability.
**Internal and external partnering**: Develop strong relationships with internal and external partners to design, influence and deliver strategic programs of work with measurable impact.
**Program Development**: Lead the development and delivery of initiatives to increase the representation, retention, and engagement of First Nations employees across ANZ.
**Cultural Learning, Competency and Safety**: Promote First Nations cultural awareness, competency and safety throughout ANZ, including the development of relevant frameworks, e.g. cultural learning and cultural maturity frameworks.
**Policy Development**: Review, develop, and support the implementation of policies to support First Nations employment and workforce cultural capability. Monitor and report on their effectiveness and recommend improvements.
**First Nations employee and community engagement**: Maintain a deep understanding of the First Nations employee experience at ANZ and represent ANZ at external events related to First Nations talent and culture. Build both ANZ’s and the banking sector’s presence amongst First Nations people as an employer (and industry) of choice.
**Thought leadership, advisory and advocacy**: Provide expert advice to internal stakeholders on matters relating to First Nations employment, cultural capability and other related matters. Advocate for the needs and voices of First Nations employees internally and bring leading industry insights to ANZ.
**Team leadership**: Lead and develop a high-performing team, aligned to ANZ’s purpose-led culture, behaviours and values.
**Performance measurement and impact reporting**: Monitor and report on the effectiveness of relevant initiatives, policies and strategies, and make recommendations for improvements, using a data-driven approach. Report regularly on progress to ANZ leaders.

- ability to build positive relationships and influence with stakeholders at all levels, from employees to senior leaders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
Experience leading employment and/or First Nations initiatives
Outstanding cultural awareness, including a deep understanding of First Nations cultures and employment: historical context, challenges and opportunities.
Established networks and connections to First Nations professionals, educational and employment organisations
Planning and prioritisation
- ability to identify clear outcomes and create plans to deliver goals which align to organisational priorities
Critical thinking and problem solving
- connecting ideas, analysing information and solving complex challenges
Demonstrated team leadership, influence and experience fostering an inclusive, supportive and high-performing culture
Strong communication skills including interpersonal, written and presentation skills
‘Good to have’ knowledge, skills and experiences
Experience leading programs, strategies or initiatives within a large organisation
