MAP Co is seeking a Curator with experience in supporting the conception, production and delivery of First Nations programs and engaging First Nations communities. The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of an audience-focussed Programming Strategy, including temporary interventions during MAPT construction phase, new permanent and temporary commissions and ongoing multi-disciplinary programming.

**Organisation overview**

A new state government entity, MAP Co is responsible for the delivery of the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation project as well as the operations, programming, promotion and maintenance of Federation Square and the new Melbourne Arts Precinct public spaces.

Set to boost Melbourne's standing as a creative and cultural capital and to harness the immense potential of one of the most vibrant arts corridors in the world, MAP Co is delivering capital projects including the $1.7 billion Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation project that includes, The Fox: NGV Contemporary, a new gallery dedicated to contemporary art and design; an 18,000 square metre public open space in the heart of the precinct; significant upgrades to the State Theatre; and new restaurants and bars throughout the space.

Federation Square supports a diverse mix of businesses that service residents, CBD workers and local and international visitors alike. It is proudly home to nationally significant resident cultural institutions the Koorie Heritage Trust (KHT), the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia (NGVA) and the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI). MAP Co works collaboratively with these organisations to support and leverage a wholistic approach to precinct programming.

**About the Role**

MAP Co is seeking a Curator with experience in supporting the conception, production and delivery of First Nations programs and engaging First Nations communities.

The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of an audience-focussed Programming Strategy, including temporary interventions during MAPT construction phase, new permanent and temporary commissions and ongoing multi-disciplinary programming.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Support the development and delivery of a First Nations Programming and Engagement Strategy in consultation with the MAP Co First Nations Committee and Traditional Owner groups.
- Assist in the development and implementation of an audience-focussed Programming Strategy that includes but is not limited to temporary interventions during MAPT construction phase, new permanent and temporary commissions and ongoing multi-disciplinary programming.
- Consult with project partners and government stakeholders to develop a wholistic approach to Map Co programming and delivery.
- Working closely with precinct partners and MAP Co's First Nations Committee to leverage opportunities for collaborative and wholistic programming.
- Create opportunities that allow MAP Co to secure grants, partnerships, ticketing and/or sponsorship for programming.
- Collaborate and communicate with MAP Co's Marketing & Communications, Commercial, and Event & Delivery Team to ensure successful delivery and promotion of MAP Co produced projects.
- Establish and cultivate collaborative partnerships with First Nations cultural and community organisations to ensure rich and innovative programming across public spaces.
- Assist in the development of an Interpretive Strategy for MAP Co sites.

**Your Experience**
- Experience in conceiving, producing, and delivering First Nations programs and engaging First Nations communities for a cultural organisation or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to support and collaborate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artistic and cultural practice and communities locally and nationally.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise and negotiate with artists, presenters, industry stakeholders and partners to represent MAP Co's interests and foster productive relationships and networks.
- Highly developed written, communication and organisational skills including the ability to manage logistics, timelines, budgets with a proven ability to problem solve in challenging situations.
- Broad interdisciplinary knowledge and networks across the arts sector, with a focus on visual and/or performing arts.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal, presentation and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate, influence and negotiate effectively and a proven capacity to develop effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, government, staff and other key influencers.
