We seek someone to undertake the role of **_NDIS Advocate (0.6EFT) _**based in the Bendigo office, servicing the**_ Mildura Region _**with regular travel required to the Mildura Office. This is an exciting opportunity to support local people living with a disability and their families.
Remuneration commences at SCHADS Awards Level Four plus salary packaging (as per PBI status). Training will be provided along with a detailed induction.
- A relevant degree or qualification and/or previous experience working in a similar role, preferably within the disability sector;
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Well-developed resolution and negotiation skills;
- Dedication to their job and their team; and
- Good presentation and a professional attitude.
The **_NDIS Advocate _**will be responsible for:
- Explaining key aspects of the NDIS and its potential impact on people living with a disability and their families.
- Providing participants with updates regarding the NDIS.
- Familiarising participants, their families and carers with the planning process associated with accessing funds under the NDIS and assisting with pre-planning.
- Assisting potential participants and their families and carers with eligibility for the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
- Developing practical transition pathways for NDIS eligible participants and alternatives for those who are ineligible.
- Networking with relevant stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes.
- Monitor and analyse the available and emerging information about the NDIS rollout and identify local issues and opportunities for a diverse range of stakeholders.
- In accordance with agreed priorities, liaise with and advocate for participants with a disability and their carers.
- Promote the project to relevant stakeholders and facilitate stakeholder engagement in the project.
