
Disability Team Leader

**Position Overview**: The Disability Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality care and support services to individuals with disabilities. This role involves managing a team of support staff, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, and developing support strategies tailored to each client’s needs. The Team Leader will focus on fostering a positive and safe environment while promoting the well-being and independence of clients.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of support workers to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery.
- Develop and implement person-centered support plans, ensuring the individual goals and needs of clients are met.
- Oversee daily operations, including staff scheduling, task delegation, and the coordination of care services.
- Monitor and support clients with complex needs, including behaviors of concern (BOC), ensuring appropriate strategies are in place to manage and reduce these behaviors.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, behavioral specialists, and healthcare professionals, to ensure holistic care for clients.
- Conduct regular assessments and reviews of client progress, updating support plans as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with NDIS, TAC, and DFFH standards, and maintain up-to-date documentation.
- Provide training and support to staff on managing challenging behaviors, using positive behavior support techniques, and understanding restrictive practices.
- Address incidents involving BOC, ensuring appropriate follow-up, reporting, and review of behavior management strategies.
- Engage with families, guardians, and advocates, ensuring clear communication and collaboration in the care and support of clients.
- Foster a culture of respect, dignity, and independence for clients, encouraging their active participation in daily activities.
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- Diploma or Certificate IV in Disability, Community Services, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in managing support teams in a disability service setting.
- Strong understanding and experience in working with individuals exhibiting behaviors of concern (BOC), including verbal aggression, self-harm, or property damage.
- Knowledge of positive behavior support frameworks and the ability to implement strategies for managing BOC.
- Experience with NDIS, TAC, and DFFH regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and with external stakeholders.
**Desirable**:
- Previous experience in managing incidents involving BOC and restrictive practices.
- Training in behavior management, de-escalation techniques, or related fields.
This role is vital for creating a supportive environment that enhances the quality of life for individuals with disabilities, including those with complex behavioral needs.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 38 per week
