ROLE OVERVIEW
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
**1. Social Media Strategy Development**:

- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with organisational objectives.
- Identify target audiences and tailor strategies to engage them effectively across various platforms.

**2. Content Creation & Management**:

- Plan, create, and schedule high-quality, engaging content (text, images, videos) for social media channels.
- Collaborate with designers, communications advisors, and other teams to ensure consistency in brand messaging and visual identity.

**3. Platform Management**:

- Manage day-to-day activities across social media platforms, including posting, monitoring, and engaging with audiences.
- Optimise social media profiles for increased visibility and engagement.

**4. Audience Engagement & Community Management**:

- Respond to comments, messages, and queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Foster a sense of community and encourage member-generated content and participation.

**5. Campaign Planning & Execution**:

- Design and execute social media campaigns to support specific campaigns, events, or messages.
- Contribute to the management of paid social media campaigns, including ad creation, targeting, and performance tracking.

**6. Growth & Retention**:

- Contribute to content strategies and campaigns that drive audience growth, engagement, and retention.
- Implement tactics to nurture and expand digital communities, fostering long-term member engagement.
- Analyse audience behaviours and preferences to tailor content that enhances the audience and member experience.

**7. Internal Communications**:

- Contribute to as directed, the creation and delivery of internal communications, ensuring employees are kept informed, engaged, and aligned with organisational objectives.

**8. Brand & Reputation Management**:

- Ensure content reflects and enhances the UWU’s brand identity and values.
- Monitor online sentiment and engage with audiences to maintain a positive brand image.
- Support crisis communications and reputation management efforts through timely, accurate, and thoughtful content.

**9. Analytics & Reporting**:

- Monitor and analyse social media performance using analytics tools to track key metrics such as engagement, reach, and conversions.
- Provide regular reports with insights and recommendations to improve future performance.

10. Collaboration, Stakeholder Engagement & Active Team Member:

- Work closely with the teams across UWU to ensure cohesive messaging.
- Provide training and support to internal teams on social media best practices.
- Liaise with external vendors or freelancers, as needed, for specialised content production.
- Cover other roles of the Brand, Marketing and Retention team as necessary due to leave, assignment or other operational necessities.

**11. Trend Analysis & Innovation**:

- Stay up-to-date with digital trends, tools, and platforms to innovate content strategies.
- Experiment with new content formats to engage and grow audiences.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field.
- Experience:

- Proven experience managing social media platforms and campaigns (2+ years preferred).
- Portfolio or examples of successful social media campaigns.
- Proven experience working individually and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Technical Skills:

- Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer) and analytics platforms.
- Familiarity with paid social

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Creative mindset with a detail-oriented approach.
- Commitment to and understanding of UWU’s values and priorities.

To perform this job, you will also be required to have or obtain and maintain:

- A valid driver’s licence; and
- Right of Entry Permits; and
- Immunisation against COVID-19 or have a medical exemption

REMUNERATION
An attractive remuneration package will be offered to the successful applicant, which will include:

- Salary commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience;
