ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a creative and strategic Social Media Advisor to lead the development and execution of our social media strategy. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing our online presence, engaging our audience, and driving the organisation's goals through compelling and effective social media campaigns.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Social Media Strategy Development:

  2. Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with organisational objectives.

  3. Identify target audiences and tailor strategies to engage them effectively across various platforms.
  4. Content Creation & Management:

  5. Plan, create, and schedule high-quality, engaging content (text, images, videos) for social media channels.

  6. Collaborate with designers, communications advisors, and other teams to ensure consistency in brand messaging and visual identity.
  7. Platform Management:

  8. Manage day-to-day activities across social media platforms, including posting, monitoring, and engaging with audiences.

  9. Optimise social media profiles for increased visibility and engagement.
  10. Audience Engagement & Community Management:

  11. Respond to comments, messages, and queries in a timely and professional manner.

  12. Foster a sense of community and encourage member-generated content and participation.
  13. Campaign Planning & Execution:

  14. Design and execute social media campaigns to support specific campaigns, events, or messages.

  15. Contribute to the management of paid social media campaigns, including ad creation, targeting, and performance tracking.
  16. Growth & Retention:

  17. Contribute to content strategies and campaigns that drive audience growth, engagement, and retention.

  18. Implement tactics to nurture and expand digital communities, fostering long-term member engagement.
  19. Analyse audience behaviours and preferences to tailor content that enhances the audience and member experience.
  20. Internal Communications:

  21. Contribute to as directed, the creation and delivery of internal communications, ensuring employees are kept informed, engaged, and aligned with organisational objectives.

  22. Brand & Reputation Management:

  23. Ensure content reflects and enhances the UWU's brand identity and values.

  24. Monitor online sentiment and engage with audiences to maintain a positive brand image.
  25. Support crisis communications and reputation management efforts through timely, accurate, and thoughtful content.
  26. Analytics & Reporting:

  27. Monitor and analyse social media performance using analytics tools to track key metrics such as engagement, reach, and conversions.

  28. Provide regular reports with insights and recommendations to improve future performance.
  29. Collaboration, Stakeholder Engagement & Active Team Member:

    • Work closely with the teams across UWU to ensure cohesive messaging.
    • Provide training and support to internal teams on social media best practices.
    • Liaise with external vendors or freelancers, as needed, for specialised content production.
    • Cover other roles of the Brand, Marketing and Retention team as necessary due to leave, assignment or other operational necessities.
    • Trend Analysis & Innovation:

    • Stay up-to-date with digital trends, tools, and platforms to innovate content strategies.

    • Experiment with new content formats to engage and grow audiences.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field.

  • Experience:

  • Proven experience managing social media platforms and campaigns (2+ years preferred).

  • Portfolio or examples of successful social media campaigns.
  • Proven experience working individually and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer) and analytics platforms.

  • Familiarity with paid social
  • Soft Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Creative mindset with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Commitment to and understanding of UWU's values and priorities.

To perform this job, you will also be required to have or obtain and maintain:

  • A valid driver's licence; and
  • Right of Entry Permits; and
  • Immunisation against COVID-19 or have a medical exemption

REMUNERATION

An attractive remuneration package will be offered to the successful applicant, which will include:

  • Salary commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience;
  • 16% superannuation
  • 6 weeks annual leave plus 25% leave loading
