Sydney, Australia Uniting Full time

Project Officer - Social Impact and Advocacy
- Full-time permanent
- Sydney CBD location - hybrid work model
- Make a difference through purpose-led project work

At Uniting, we believe in a just world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Through our Social Impact and Advocacy (SIA) Directorate, we champion policy change, advocate for those without a voice, and deliver initiatives that align with our purpose. We’re now seeking a Project Officer to play a key support role within this vibrant and committed team.
Your opportunity to make an impact
As the Project Officer, you’ll work across a broad range of initiatives that contribute to Uniting’s strategic goals. This hands-on and varied role is responsible for providing flexible, high-quality project coordination and administrative support to help the SIA Directorate deliver its work with efficiency and impact.
From managing tasks across multiple projects to preparing professional documents and driving small system improvements, you’ll be a key enabler of our team’s success. Your ability to juggle competing priorities, think proactively, and navigate a complex organisation will be critical.
What you'll do
You’ll contribute to the smooth running of key initiatives, events, and internal systems by:

- Supporting day-to-day project coordination including communications, updates, follow-ups, and tracking.
- Preparing engaging documents, presentations, templates and resources to support strategy, capability and communications.
- Leading small projects such as rolling out SharePoint sites or creating user-friendly guides and tools.
- Supporting medium-sized initiatives including internal process improvements, campaign delivery, and stakeholder engagement.
- Coordinating and supporting internal events and workshops - from RSVPs to catering and follow-up.
- Maintaining digital and low-fi tracking systems to keep project documents current and accessible.
- Supporting the use and improvement of platforms like SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to enhance collaboration.
- Troubleshooting basic issues related to formatting, file storage or shared resources.
- Contributing to the formation of a new SIA Administration Hub - a collaborative team supporting the directorate’s work.
- Assisting with enquiries, coordinating with teams across Uniting, and helping reduce duplication of effort.
- Identifying process improvements and suggesting new ways of working using digital tools.
- Actively engaging in learning opportunities to build your professional skills in areas such as social media, systems, and communications.

About you
You’re a proactive and professional team player who thrives in a busy, purpose-led environment. You bring:

- 5+ years’ experience in project or administrative support, ideally in a large or complex organisation.
- Strong coordination and multitasking skills with a high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills - written, visual and verbal - and the ability to engage across all levels.
- Experience managing small projects independently, using project tools and systems effectively.
- A high degree of professionalism, sound judgement, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- A natural ability to form relationships and influence without authority.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, SharePoint, Outlook and other collaboration tools.
- A collaborative mindset and genuine desire to contribute to social change.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in business, research, communications or a related field.

Even better if you have
- Experience in a social justice, advocacy, or purpose-driven environment.
- A demonstrated passion for equity, inclusion and improving outcomes for the most disadvantaged.

**How to apply**: Send your CV and a brief cover letter highlighting why this role appeals to you - Applications reviewed upon receipt.

- Up to $18,550 NFP salary packaging available.
- Access to our U rewards program with exclusive discounts.
- Flexible work hours for work-life balance.
- Affordable access to Fitness Passport— discounted gym memberships to support your best life.
- A supportive and inclusive and collaborative work environment.
