**The Opportunity**

We have an exciting opportunity available for several Project Officer’s to join the NSW EPA within different business units. You will play a key role in developing, implementing, and reviewing programs and projects aimed at increasing resource efficiency and recycling within local government, businesses, and the community.

**Community Waste Programs**

As part of the Community Waste Programs team the project officer will work closely with other team members on the development, delivery and review of waste programs and projects that support and build the capacity of regional communities to deliver innovative waste solutions, transition to a circular economy and deliver on targets outlined in the NSW Waste and Sustainable Materials Strategy

**Business Unit**

The Business Unit has an ongoing EO8 project officer position available. The Project Officer
will work collaboratively with the team to assist small to medium businesses avoid, reduce, reuse and recycle commercial and industrial waste, and transition to a circular economy. The role will include grant management and governance and working with stakeholders in the waste sector across NSW. The flagship program Bin Trim is Australia’s largest business waste program having provided free waste assessment to more than 38,000 businesses. If you have experience in grant management and governance, an understanding of the waste sector in NSW with specific focus on commercial and industrial waste this could be your next career opportunity.

**Asbestos Coordination**

You will join a motivated, fun, and warm team who are known for delivering high quality programs that support whole of government coordination for the safe management of asbestos in NSW.

This team plays a critical role in supporting the NSW Asbestos Coordination Committee (NACC), particularly developing the NACC forward agendas, business papers and meetings to deliver the NACC’s work on its priority issues (published in _Asbestos in NSW: Next Horizon_), and managing significant NACC stakeholder interactions.

**Community Recycling Unit**

The Community Recycling Unit oversees and manages the Community Recycling Centre program, a network of 100 facilities across NSW and the Household Chemical Cleanout program, comprising of over 50 pop up chemical collection events annually. As project officer in this team you will be responsible for facilitating and administering the educational component of the Household Problem Waste program. Tasks include working with local councils and regional waste groups to deliver education and engagement activities to promote the programs, developing and implementing research initiatives relating to behaviour change and furthering the goals of the programs through clear communications and advice to the public through centralised engagement platforms.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Contribute to and assist with the design, co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of projects.
- Manage individual projects including managing the project budget and coordinating or supervising assigned staff and contractors.
- Analyse and collect information, evaluate and report on the delivery of various programs.
- Draft briefings, advice and correspondence accurately reflecting DPIE’s position in respect of range of Branch programs.
- Provide accurate, well researched, balanced reports and recommendations for action by the Organisation to address Branch program issues appropriately.
