About the role

What does a Management Committee member do exactly? Here is how our lawyer defined it
- to meet as required to consider and approve the movements of funds from the Public Fund (the bank account used to receive all donations); and
- undertake a review of the Public Fund bank account transactions on a periodic basis.

As managers of the Public Fund, the Committee must consider whether the proposed movement of funds from the Public Fund are in accordance with Hi Neighbours budget (as approved by the Board), policies, and the requirement that the Public Fund be used to further the purposes of Hi Neighbour as an environmental charity. The role of the Committee does not extend to deciding how Hi Neighbour spends its money, setting or approving Hi Neighbours budget or setting strategic direction. These are functions of Hi Neighbour’s Board.
