**Position Information**:
Berkeley Public School is situated on Dharawal country in the Wollongong suburb of Berkeley and has an enrolment of 308 students. The school's FOEI (Family Occupation and Education Index) is 139 and currently has 12 mainstream classes. The school draws from both public and private housing. Our student population represents a high multicultural background, 23% of our students come from an English as a Second Language background and 21% of students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
The school has a strong emphasis on evidence-based teaching methods with a focus on collaborative practice, rigorous data analysis cycles to drive teaching and learning programs and visible learning strategies. These areas of focus are strategically linked to our school improvement targets. The school has an allocation of 1.4 Assistant Principal Curriculum & Instruction leaders. These leaders work shoulder to shoulder with teachers and executives across K-6 focusing on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for all students.
Staff members are highly dedicated professionals, including non-teaching staff, early career and experienced teachers. The Aboriginal committee facilitates this Yarn once a month to develop connections and consultative relationships with our First Nations community. **Selection Criteria**:
1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary and demonstrate the capacity to work as part of an executive team and balance exemplary classroom practice and management skills with the complexities of the Assistant Principal role.
2. Proven ability to analyse and use a range of data to build the capacity of individuals and teams, to improve student outcomes and align with the School Improvement Plan.
3. Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative member of a dynamic leadership team to drive whole school priorities, including the ability to build the capacity of early career and experienced teachers.
4. Proven ability to enhance and promote positive partnerships within a diverse community including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and the P&C.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
