- Melbourne Pathology is one of Victoria’s largest diagnostic pathology laboratories, committed to providing high quality healthcare throughout metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria and interstate.
- An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Medical Technician to join our busy Chemical Pathology Department located in Collingwood.
- This is a full-time position (38 hours per week). Shifts are varied as the department operates 24 hours per day/7 days a week. The successful applicant will be required to participate in the department’s rostering system with shifts commencing at 8am, 10am, 4pm and 12am as rostered, including public holidays and weekends.
- In this role you will:
- Perform routine maintenance and sample testing on laboratory instrumentation
- Prepare samples for analysis, prioritising urgent patient samples
- Analyse, review, action and troubleshoot quality control results
- Perform general laboratory housekeeping duties
- Assist in staff training.

The successful applicant will have:
- Experience in a chemical pathology diagnostic laboratory with Australian industry experience
- A Diploma of Applied Science (MLS) or recognised equivalent
- Knowledge of quality assurance systems and scientific instrumentation/equipment in a pathology laboratory
- The ability to work as part of a busy team and independently
- Good problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
- Awareness of laboratory occupational health and safety issues.
