**About the Department of Education**:
The Information and Technology Branch of the Department of Education provides digital technology services and solutions that underpin the delivery of educational outcomes to learners in Queensland.

**Your opportunity**:
**As the Governance Officer you will**:

- Support the Manager with the provision of ICT Governance advice and assistance to the department to ensure a lawful, efficient and effective implementation of the department's primary legislation and whole of government policies.
- Coordinate activities and initiatives relating to the department's maturity in ICT Governance, including the management of internal and external reporting requirements relating to ICT.

The Governance Officer reports to the Manager, Governance, Risk and Compliance Unit, Governance, Cyber & Policy, Information and Technologies Branch, People, Information and Communication Services Division.

**Your role**:
**Responsibilities include**:

- Within given research goals, contribute to the evaluation, design, configuration, development, documentation, implementation, and support of departmental ICT policies, procedures, standards, systems and guidelines in accordance with departmental requirements and industry trends
- Contribute to ICT Governance strategic planning activities, ensuring they add value in accordance with legislative requirements and organisation goals and objectives.
- Contribute to regular performance measurement information reports for relevant departmental committees and coordinate annual reporting to whole of government authorities on various aspects of ICT Governance.
- Provide advice, consultation and communication with clients on policies, standards, systems, processes and practices relating to effective management of information that will inform decisions. Promote and market the full range of services available to the department through a variety of communication channels.
- Provide assistance in preparing strategic, operational and project plans that meet identified departmental business unit and location needs for effective ICT Governance management.

**About you**:

- Due to the nature of the role, you will have exceptional attention to detail and an ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
- An ability to manage competing priorities and tasks
