**About the role**

With an unwavering focus on prioritising safety above all else, we are seeking to appoint an Assurance, Risk and Investigations Manager responsible for facilitating, coordinating and communicating the risk and investigative functions across the Pacific National (PN) Business in accordance with PN standards and Regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety and Environment, this is a pivotal new role that sits on the HSE leadership team to lead a new function of Assurance, Risk and Investigations. Leading a small team, this role constitutes a real opportunity for an experienced safety professional to enact lasting change and elevate PN’s safety performance and culture to the next level.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Provide high level direction and expert advice to assist the business in the on-going development of investigative work practices, risk management, standards and improvement processes to enhance investigative performance, quality and safety culture
- Effectively manage and maintain high level stakeholder working relationships with regulatory agencies, professional bodies, internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and maintain risk management framework and risk register (including control effectiveness reviews) and facilitate consistent risk management processes across the business in alignment with risk management standards
- Establish governance controls to manage compliance to risk management framework and the quality of investigations
- Manage high level, significant, sensitive and non-routine investigations
- Develop high level reports relating to investigations and the outcomes of findings which may impact on business governance, conformance, goals and objectives
- Manage the assurance program across PN operations including reviewing trends, managing and tracking assurance activity including completion of actions plans

**About you**

With a clear mandate to build a robust risk and investigations management framework and to lead the function moving forward, this role is suited to an experienced HSE practitioner who is Lead Investigator and Lead Auditor trained, with a proven track record in risk management.

In addition, the following skills, experience and attributes are required:

- Strong people leadership skills and track record
- Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of safety and risk management principles and practices, risk management and WHS legislation with experience developing and reviewing organisational risk profiles in heavy industry
- Tertiary qualifications in business, health & safety, engineering or equivalent
- Certificate IV Work, Health and Safety or equivalent
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment or equivalent desirable
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills including negotiation, facilitation and influencing
- Demonstrated success in generating creative solutions for stakeholders and a proven ability translating customer needs into new ways of working that deliver benefits
