Our RBS (Retail Banking Services) Finance team operates as a business partner integrated with the management of the product and distribution businesses, yet with a one-step removed status to promote objectivity and independence of analysis and advice.

The team adds value through planning, reporting, and decision support to line management to promote operational and financial efficiency, productivity delivery, and customer service quality.

**Do work that matters**

As the Executive Manager, Expense Management, you will lead and oversee the financial management and cost optimisation strategies for the RBS business and leadership team.

You will be a key partner to the RBS business, providing strategic advice on optimal expense allocation/investments and productivity opportunities.

**We’re interested in hearing from people who will aspire to**
- Provide strategic advice on managing a cost base of ~$5bn per annum and support workforce management of ~16k FTE.
- Articulate key business drivers, provide critical insights to drive debate, and deliver value-add analysis across the RBS portfolio of products and businesses.
- End-to-end ownership of RBS expense and productivity management, including strategy and budget setting, performance reporting, forecasting, investment spend, financial control, and cost optimisation/productivity reporting.
- Formulate actionable analysis and insights to drive RBS performance and strategy.
- Prepare high-quality presentations and supporting analysis/insight for senior management (RBS Group Executive, CFO, Retail Leadership Team, and Group Finance).
- Build strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders, including RBS Finance Teams, BU & SU Finance teams, Group Finance, Group Accounting Policy, Group Cost Transparency, and Pace (Agile) Management teams, and business stakeholders.
- Lead a team of 12, including 4 direct reports, with a focus on attracting, promoting, and rotating talent and creating an inspiring and nurturing work environment.
- Actively drive process improvement, simplification, and cross-skilling across the RBS Performance Management team.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct, which sets the standards of behaviour, actions, and decisions we expect from our people.

**Other qualities you may possess include**
- Financial Services experience in a banking environment is preferable.
- High degree of commercial acumen.
- Strong experience in financial performance management.
- Strong analytical and commercial skills, with demonstrated ability to draw insights from analysis.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Innovative and able to drive results.
- Excellent verbal, written communication skills, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple deliverables.

**Your qualifications**
- Graduate qualifications in a numerate discipline - finance/business.
- A post-graduate qualification (e.g., ICA/CPA, MBA).
