This is a unique opportunity to join WSP as the leader of the Newcastle Occupational Hygiene and Hazmat consulting team. Your purpose will be to drive technical excellence, innovation, and client satisfaction within our team, while nurturing a culture of continuous growth and development.

The role will be based in our Newcastle office with the opportunity to work **remotely for ~ 2 days per week**, as desired.

**What you’ll do**
- Lead, mentor, and coach a team of 7 consultants to achieve peak performance and foster ongoing professional development
- Support their professional development plans, ensuring their growth and success
- Cultivate a culture of teamwork, innovation, and passion, promoting trust and unity among team members
- Empower senior staff to drive a high-performance culture and contribute to business development initiatives
- Develop business development strategies and contribute to market action plans for targeted clients
- Prepare compelling proposals and lead projects to meet budget and strategic goals
- Uphold a strong safety culture and champion safety initiatives

**About you**

You're likely to have a minimum of 5 years of experience in hazmat and/or occupational hygiene consulting, you’re open to feedback and continuous improvement, and you maintain a professional demeanor under pressure.

In addition, you bring the following skills and attributes:

- Advanced experience in assessing workplace hazards and environmental factors, risk management, and project scope management
- Proven track record in business development, proposal writing, and delivering exceptional client outcomes and cost-effective solutions
- Relevant professional certifications and ongoing training in SHEQ, project management, and client-centricity
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Applied Science, Environmental Engineering, Building Surveying, or Occupational Health and Safety
