**About the role**
As Sport and Recreation Officer you will be part of the Sport and Recreation team and will be responsible for supporting and building the capacity of local sport and recreation organisations. The position will be the key contact for sport and recreation organisations and ensure effective use of Council’s sporting facilities.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate with a small team to deliver community engagement across the council.
- Develop, monitor, and evaluate multi-channel engagement plans to manage reputational risks and emerging issues.
- Plan and deliver place-based events and activations.
- Identify, define, and analyse key stakeholder groups and communication vehicles to standardise and deliver effective communication.
- Maintain an understanding of community demographics to inform effective engagement strategies.

**About you**
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A degree in Exercise Physiology, Leisure, Sport and Recreation, Recreation or Sport Administration/Management, Public Health or similar, or significant progress towards obtaining same
- A current Queensland “C” class Driver’s licence
- Experience working in local government and/or local sporting organisations
- Substantial skill in development of partnerships within an organisation as well as with external customers and stakeholders
- Substantial knowledge and understanding of a wide range of sport and recreation activities and facilities and the functioning of sport and recreation organisations
- Strong communication skills, be agile, resilient, community focused and have the ability to manage multiple issues and projects/tasks

This is a permanent full-time, Level 5 position with a salary commencing at $97,827 plus superannuation of up to 12.5%.
