This Federal Government Department is working at the forefront of leading Australia's response to Climate Change and sustainable energy use, and protecting our environment, heritage and water. Currently, they are seeking EL1 Strategic Policy Officers to join the team.

**Your new role**

As an experienced EL1 Strategic Policy Officer, you will be responsible for providing strategic policy advice to Senior Executives and Ministers. As you will be engaging and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders, well-developed communication skills and the ability to foster professional relationships are a must.
- Provide high-quality strategic policy advice to senior executives and ministers
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders internal and external to the Department
- Prepare high-quality briefings, reports, and submissions
- Manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within tight timeframes
- Contribute to the development of policies and programs that align with the Government's priorities.

This position is permanent and those who are currently substantively employed in the APS and seeking a change via S26 Transfer are encouraged to apply.

**What you'll need to succeed**

To succeed in this role, you will display the ability to analyse technical information, perform assessments and produce recommendations for review. As well as this, you will have:

- Demonstrated experience in providing strategic policy advice at the EL1 level
- Experience in Federal Government Budget and Cabinet processes
- Strong analytical skills, with a realistic understanding of policy processes post NPP process
- The ability to think strategically and big-picture
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a virtual environment with a geographically dispersed team
- Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced, high-profile area

To be considered for this role, you must be an Australian Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance at the Baseline level or higher.
