**Your new company**

This well-known Federal Government Department is seeking an APS6 or EL1 Policy/Program Officer to join one of their Branch’s and Section’s that undertakes governance, oversight and engagement activities, and provides strategic policy advice and has a responsibility for developing and delivering a program. This position has become available due to an increase in workload.

**Your new role**

You will contribute to the policy framework and provide supervision and leadership to junior team members and representing the Branch and Department in stakeholder engagements. Your duties will include but are not limited to:

- Undertaking policy development and analysis.
- Drafting advice to Government.
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to develop policy and prepare strategic advice.
- Providing secretariat support including preparing agendas, meeting papers and minutes.
- Undertake research, prepare reports, strategic papers and ministerial products such as submissions, meeting briefs and ministerial correspondence.
- Analysis of legislation and financial data and reports.
- Monitoring and evaluating policy and program effectiveness.
- Assisting with the delivery of round one of the program including working with grant recipients to ensure their projects are progressing in line with funding agreements.
- Monitoring and managing section mailboxes and drafting responses to queries and requests for information.

**What you'll need to succeed**

To be successful for this position you will have previous experience within a similar position and the Federal Government. You will also have excellent communication skills both written and verbally, good strategic thinking skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, the ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, investigate issues, gather evidence and think critically.

Experience in policy development, governance processes or financial analysis highly regarded for this position.

To be considered for this role you will need to be an Australian citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance at the Baseline level or higher.
