**Who we are**
The Finance Division supports the department to be efficient, effective, and financially sustainable through our business partnerships, the Finance Service Charter and our specialist centres of excellence. The division provides financial and management advice and support to the department, the offices of the minister and assistant ministers and to industry stakeholders. The division delivers on business objectives through the provision of high-quality customer service, advice and support and a nationally consistent approach to business, with consideration to the government’s tight fiscal environment, its significant reform agenda and the department’s imperative to maintain financial sustainability.

Financial Services Branch administers policies, provides quality advice and a high standard of service in a range of functions including travel, credit cards, procurement, grants, accounts payable, accounts receivable, appropriation management, insurance, financial policy, and reporting.

The position is within the Travel and Cards Team. Our team is responsible for delivering comprehensive support and guidance on travel, credit card, and expense management system processes across the department. We provide regular and ad-hoc reporting to executive leadership and operational units, enabling informed decision-making and strategic planning. Our team lead and manage projects to implement and enhance financial functions.

**The job**
- Facilitating regular training sessions on travel, credit card and system processes, in person and via Microsoft Teams
- Updating and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
- Assisting EL1’s with regular and ad-hoc reporting
- Overseeing the GovComply system and acting as an escalation point for compliance matters
- Supporting EL1’s and EL2 with both project related tasks and daily operations
- Driving ongoing business improvement

**What we are looking for**
- An understanding of government travel and/or travel industry
- An understanding of the Whole of Australian Government travel arrangements
- Experience with commonwealth credit cards
- Experience using Expense8, or similar expense management systems
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Experience in managing or participating in business improvements
- Experience in being a key support/escalation point for complex issues
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to consult and support stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to support team members to identify and adjust priorities in response to a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to build and maintain quality working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Customer service focus
- Capable of strategically analysing work to identify improvement opportunities
- Ability to work both independently and part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

**Eligibility and other requirements**
**Citizenship** -** to be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.

**Security Clearance** -**this position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

**Pre-employment checks** -** your suitability for employment will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes a requirement to undergo and satisfy a National Police Check, referee checks, character clearance and where required a pre-employment medical assessment, specified mandatory qualification(s) validation and a probation period.
