**Fixed term, part time 0.6 FTE position available for 12 months**

The Mobile Language Team (MLT) supports the Aboriginal language of South Australia. MLT seeks to:

- Increase access to language learning resources for all young Aboriginal people;
- Raise awareness about issues relating to language revival and maintenance;
- Develop digital platforms for language delivery;
- Lobby state and federal governments on behalf of SA Aboriginal communities to preserve SA’s rich language heritage.

The Linguistics Officer will assist with the delivery of education and training grants as part of a Project Team. The Linguistics Officer will develop Aboriginal language learning resources and support Target Schools and Aboriginal Community Educators in their use. The Linguistics Officer will also assist the Project Team with logistics relating to community workshops and administrative tasks such as compiling project outputs for reporting.

**To be successful you will need**:

- Understanding of the history of the production of written grammars and dictionaries of Aboriginal languages and how these resources can be unpacked and reworked for language education in a revival context.
- Basic knowledge of the issues facing Aboriginal communities in reclaiming, reviving or maintaining their heritage languages.
- Proven ability to work as a member of a team.
- Ability to produce high quality language resource materials (online and print).
- Ability to work with a variety of digital linguistic tools (Audacity, Excel, audio/video recording devices) and social media platforms.
