The Medical Advisor provides high-level medical expertise and leadership to ensure a data-driven and evidence-based approach to public and population health policy and programs, particularly in relation to the NSW Health response to drug related harm at Music Festivals. The role supports the management of critical incidents and other issues of public health concern, including alcohol and other drug service delivery, policy and program responses.

Career Medical Officer Grade 1 or 2 (dependent on skills and experience of incumbent), salary for CMO Grade 1 from $139,187 - $168,166 OR CMO Grade 2 from $174,634 - $207,388 plus Super and annual leave loading.

**What you'll be doing**
- Provide high-level medical advice and support to the Executive Director, Centre for Alcohol and Other Drugs relating to the effective management of critical state-wide population and public health policy and programs and medical research, particularly in relation to the NSW Health response to drug related harm at Music Festivals.
- Provide medical advice to support key projects and initiatives to support the population and public health response to health issues and strategic priorities.
- Provide medical and public health perspective, ensuring timely analysis and interpretation of health, population and surveillance data.
- Provide clinical analysis of health presentations, including liaising across multiple stakeholders and disciplines.
- Support technical assessments and monitoring of priority health and medical programs.
- Engage with clinicians and clinical and laboratory networks; and support clinical policy and guideline development, implementation and evaluation.

**Skills and Experience**
- Qualifications in medicine (with current registration in Australia) and public health or another other relevant discipline. Qualifications or experience in emergency medicine, medical retrieval or critical care are desirable.
- Demonstrated high level capacity to set and manage competing priorities and to deliver high quality products within agreed timeframes and budgets.
- Medical leadership skills and experience in providing high level policy advice and recommendations on complex clinical and population health issues at an executive level with mínimal supervision.
- High level understanding and extensive knowledge of the development, implementation and management of public health policy, programs and information management and surveillance systems.
- Demonstrated high-level expertise in epidemiological methods and the use of data to manage and monitor policy and programs.
- Substantial knowledge and experience of the health and medical research sector.
