With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community in which we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.

We are seeking a **Site** **Hygienist **to join our site-based Health, Safety & Training team, being responsible to ensure the health of employees through the delivery of professional hygiene monitoring programs.

The Hygienist will help facilitate Karara’s health programs and support staff in the implementation and management phases, ensure compliance with legislation, meet organisational and business requirements and deliver expert advice on hygiene, dust, radiation, noise and ventilation aspects of safety compliance.

This position operates on an **8 days on 6 days off **roster.

**Essential Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience**
- Tertiary Qualification in Science or health related discipline
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills - verbal and written report writing skills
- Ability to use experience and knowledge to interpret data / find practical solutions - DMIRS SRS database experience
- Experience working within the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and Work Health and Safety Regulations (Mines) 2022.
- Good project management skills, with the ability to engage successfully with both workers and managers
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- National Police Clearance
- Permanent work rights in Australia

**Desirable Qualifications**
- Hold current Surface Ventilation Officer and Noise Officer qualifications and capabilities
- Hold postgraduate qualifications in Occupational Hygiene or be working towards (highly regarded)
- Membership with the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists or ability to obtain
- Conduct workplace exposure monitoring for physical, biological and chemical hazards including dust, silica, chemical and biological agent
- Provide expert Occupational Hygiene advice
