**Who we are**
The Finance Division provides a range of essential advice and services to enable to the department to deliver its strategic objectives. This advice and services cover financial management, procurement, travel, property & physical security and information technology.

The Property, Infrastructure and Physical Security (PIPS) Branch is responsible for enhancing the department’s business capability through the effective management of the department’s property footprint - a national portfolio of commercial, residential and specialist leases - as well as property-enabling functions, protective security, and emergency management. The branch also leads the department’s partnership with the Director of National Parks and their stakeholders to design and deliver infrastructure projects within terrestrial Commonwealth national parks.

The Sustainable Property section is a small team that aims to assist the branch to display leadership and best practice in all aspects of its activities. Our key focus is the property function of the branch including capital works projects, property leasing and disposal, facilities management, and associated support and contract management functions not limited to vehicle fleet, waste, stationery and freight. We are also expecting to play an increasing role in the delivery of infrastructure projects in partnership with Parks Australia. We play a key role in the department's efforts to be an exemplar in the attainment of net zero greenhouse gas emissions and sustainability in relation to circularity and a nature positive approach. We work closely with both areas of DCCEEW’s policy expertise and operational capability to ensure adoption of best-practice. We also seek to collaborate with other entities to develop innovative solutions to common sustainability challenges.

**The Job**
We are seeking an Assistant Director to support the Director in assisting the branch to achieve its sustainability ambitions. Duties include:

- Work with key stakeholders to identify and lead innovative solutions to sustainability challenges associated with the property portfolio
- Actively contribute to strategic planning and translation of strategy into operational areas of responsibility
- Provide high-quality advice on sustainability topics to the branch, engaging and influencing stakeholders as appropriate.
- Oversee core sustainability performance reporting and build the capability of the branch to measure, monitor and report on its use of property-related resources
- Ensure delivery of the division’s contribution to corporate sustainability and climate risk reporting
- Exemplify APS Values and promote a positive team environment and workplace culture.

- Work within the strategic context of a team plan and prioritise work with mínimal supervisory input

**Eligibility and other requirements**
**Citizenship** -** To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.

**Security Clearance** -** This position requires a **Baseline Vetting **security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
