**Who we are**
The People, Property and Security Division works in partnership to deliver strategic and operational workforce services that enable and enhance organisational capability. The division provides stewardship, support, and services across integrity; conduct; property; fraud and corruption; security; performance management; rehabilitation management; recruitment; learning and development; inclusion and diversity; workforce planning and analytics; workplace relations; people support; culture and health, safety and wellbeing.
The Property and Security Branch is responsible for enhancing the department’s business capability through the effective management of the department’s property portfolio, property enabling functions, protective security, emergency management, as well as a range of corporate site services and commercial contracts nationally.
The Protective Security team leads the department’s governance and physical security capabilities (excluding personnel and information security), including compliance reporting.
**The Job**
As an Assistant Director - Security Governance - Protective Security Policy Framework:
- You ensure compliance and implementation of the department’s Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) Annual Maturity Assessment and Peer Review.
- You ensure compliance and implementation of actions agreed in the department’s Enterprise Protective Security Risk Assessment (EPSRA).
- You prepare security advice for the department’s executive in the form of reports, briefings, and committee papers as required.
- You contribute to the strategic direction, annual workplan and budgeting of the Property and Security Branch.
- You provide strategic advice and support to Senior Executive and stakeholders on legislation, security risk management assessments, the PSPF and relevant standards.
- You monitor and report on delivery against annual branch plans, annual work plans, protective security audit programme and broader organisational objectives.
- You regularly report on security incidents, audits, threats, vulnerability assessments and protest activities as required.
- You develop and contribute to the implementation of a robust protective security framework, policies, and guidelines in accordance with the PSPF, relevant legislation and standards.
- You coach, communicate and evaluate information, factoring in risks and context.
- You develop and maintain customer and stakeholder relationships, including liaison with external agencies.
- You contribute to the identification, development, and implementation of opportunities to improve business management practices and processes.
- You provide leadership, including coaching of staff on the importance and requirements of the PSPF.
**Please note** that the merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
**What we are looking for**
**Knowledge and experience**
A comprehensive understanding of:
- the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework, and associated rules
- the PSPF including design principles and policy requirements
- PSPF implementation and security risk management, in particular security risk assessment and physical and technical security
- the senior-level management of security policy and operations within a risk-management environment in the Australian Government
- high level representational skills.
