**The Role**
**EL1 Assistant Director, Workforce Australia Provider Support Division, South Australia State Office**
The South Australia State Office is responsible for:
- Program and contract management of contracted employment and skills services providers.
- Regional and place-based strategies, programs and initiatives that respond to local labour market needs.
- Industry and employer focused initiatives that respond to workforce shortages and seasonal labour needs.
The EL1 Assistant Director is responsible for leading a team to deliver a range of Australian Government employment and skills programs in South Australia. The team has responsibility for contract management and stakeholder engagement activities. The Assistant Director and their team monitor program and provider performance, manage a range of employment and skills contracts, drive place-based projects and initiatives and support our Ministers and Executive to achieve outcomes for individuals and business.
Reporting to an EL2 Director, the Assistant Director will provide direction on a range of strategic and operational functions. The Assistant Director will work in collaboration with a range of internal and external stakeholders. They will provide leadership that fosters a collaborative environment across the whole South Australia State Office that actively promotes a culture of leadership at all levels.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the
**EL1** may include:
- Providing support to the State Manager and general leadership within the Senior Leadership Group to create a shared sense of purpose and direction within the State and more broadly the Division.
- Focusing strategically and considering the whole of government agenda and the ramifications of a wide range of issues relating to the department’s portfolio.
- Identifying strategies and leading a team to deliver business priorities (including those related to Workforce Australia, the Local Jobs Program and Skills).
- Providing strong people leadership including supervision and mentoring of team members to support their performance, capability growth and professional development.
- Building and sustaining relationships with a network of key people internally and externally, and actively recognising shared agendas to work towards mutually beneficial outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
- Managing Commonwealth services contracts judiciously. Providing an oversight role for all elements of contract management including relationship management, compliance, assurance, performance, quality, and contract administration (either directly or through leadership of responsible staff). Managing and resolving complex matters appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Responding flexibly to changing demands and support staff to do the same. Implementing workforce structures that support effective decision-making, empower employees, and deepen the culture of growth mindset, curiosity, and collaboration across divisions and within the department.
**Qualifications and Education**
- A current Driver’s Licence as some metropolitan and regional travel in South Australia will be required.
- Tertiary qualifications in fields such as social sciences and management are desirable but not essential.

**Eligibility**
**Citizenship** - to be eligible for employment with the Department, you must be an Australian Citizen or, in limited circumstances, in the process of obtaining it.
