**Who we are**
**Biosecurity Operations Division** deliver nationally integrated biosecurity and imported food regulatory activities to ensure goods, conveyances and travellers meet Australia's import requirements. Division operations include policy and regulatory control setting across imported food and biosecurity risk pathways, as well as the delivery of assessment, inspection, community engagement and contact centre services. The division also partners with industry to improve the delivery of regulatory functions. The division spans a range of regulatory activities that plays a critical role in reducing risk and shaping our nation to become one of the few countries in the world to remain free from the world’s most severe pests and diseases.

**Maritime Operations and Regulatory Capability** delivers regulatory assessments and inspections of international vessels to ensure compliance with Australis’s biosecurity requirements. The pathway holds responsibility for administering the Infringement Notice Scheme primarily for infringement notices issued in the airport environment. In addition, the pathway also undertakes a range of enabling services on behalf of the Biosecurity Operations Division including recruitment and workforce planning, learning and development, coaching and regulatory capability and workforce management.

**BOD Technical Training** is a national team who develop and deliver technical training and the Biosecurity Foundation Program (BFP), implement digital and innovative learning and support building capability as well as assessing competency of Biosecurity Officers within the Biosecurity Operations Division (BOD).

**The Job**
The Assistant Director - Process Management and Governance promotes a national team culture and oversees the effective administrative, scheduling, and governance processes and procedures for the BOD Technical Training teams. The role will deliver strategies to identify opportunities for the continuous improvement of the processes and procedures as well as the scheduling of training delivery and assessment.

Responsibilities and duties of the position include but are not limited to:

- Provide leadership and management to staff within their team, inspiring a sense of purpose and direction.
- Regularly collaborate with executive staff across the division and provide advice to the leadership team on stakeholder activities, operational issues, interests, and risks, contributing to divisional policy advice.
- Oversee databases, data quality, analytical results and the presentation of data for senior executives.
- Maintain and analyse data to provide accurate information to the Director for BOD Technical Training minutes and briefings, relating to budget, finance, recruitment and annual operational planning.
- Oversee the consultation, planning and implementation of delivery schedule to meet both business and resource needs; including monitoring staffing levels to ensure a sustainable workforce in BOD Technical Training.
- Review documentation for publishing on the BOD Technical Training BioHub and SharePoint sites.
- Support senior leadership to develop and implement business planning and continuous improvement utilising digital learning solutions, innovations and other projects.
- Identify improvements to the division’s training system through data analysis and cross branch engagement.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, including business areas and other learning and development specialists across the department.
- Partnership with policy areas/training owners to progress priorities and maximise workflow.
- Provide advice and briefing material to executives on activities requiring decision, endorsement or awareness.
- Manage own work including responding to strategic priorities, delegating tasks and collaborating internally and externally with peers.
- Maintain knowledge of and compliance with legislative, financial, and administrative department principles.
- Promote and ensure adherence to the APS values and Code of Conduct.
- Lead, promote and ensure effective implementation of departmental WHS and Rehabilitation policies and guidelines and be alert for and report risks to WHS.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the department’s corporate objectives and support change management, including staff and client participation, consultation, and cultural change.
