About the Team

AIG Australian Compliance Team covers both Australia and New Zealand and the Controls Monitoring and Assurance Compliance Officer reports to the Chief Compliance Officer, Australia and New Zealand. The Team offers support and advice to Line 1 Business and works closely with them to understand and comply with their regulatory requirements. The team also manage and assist the business with ad hoc enquiries.

About the role

The Compliance Officer, Controls Monitoring and Assurance which will lead the management of the Governance Risk & Compliance Tool, compliance monitoring, assurance and remediation activities across AIG Australia and New Zealand. This role will provide support to the Chief Compliance Officer Australasia to ensure that the regulatory requirements of AIG Australia and AIG New Zealand are understood and are met through the implementation, monitoring and assurance of AIG’s compliance related frameworks and policies.

What you need to know

Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:

- Lead, support and champion the implementation of a fit for purpose local compliance management tool/system (Governance, Risk and Compliance). Provide support in generating reports on monitoring and assurance activities to Management and Board Committees with the use of PowerBI and GRC tool).
- Develop a controls monitoring and assurance program
- Implementation of the controls monitoring and assurance program, including undertaking monitoring, oversight and assurance activities
- Manage and maintain GRC tool to support implementation of compliance management framework.
- Manage compliance incidents and breaches using the GRC tool and triaging initial assessment.
- Support continuous education and improvement initiatives within the Compliance function and broader business

What we’re looking for:

- Proven experience in managing and using GRC system, PowerBI, SharePoint and Microsoft Visio.
- Advanced MS Excel and IT skills
- Experience with GRC systems and Power BI as well as understanding IT security.
- Proven experience with controls monitoring and assurance activities in a compliance function within financial services, preferably insurance.
- Approachable, self-starter, problem-solver with the ability to challenge respectfully.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the presence and ability to interact and build credibility across all levels of staff.
- Understanding of key insurance legislation and regulatory obligations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong presence and articulate when dealing with stakeholders
- A professional educational background or proven experience preferably legal or audit qualifications.
