The QAS supports more than 500 elite athletes on their sporting journey from talented juniors to Olympians, Paralympians and World Champions. Our expert staff support athletes through in-house programs, partnerships with State and National Sporting Organisations, and individualised support for athletes on medal-winning trajectories to help them perform when it matters most.Our ambitious high-performance strategy for the 2032 Games is to create more medal-winning moments for Queensland athletes that inspire their state and nation. While this strategy defines our goals, our organisation's culture is what will help us achieve them. Therefore, the QAS is looking for highly talented and motivated individuals whose values and behaviours align with ours, to join our QAS Team.In this role you will: - Facilitate strong, deliberate and productive relationships with athletes, coaches and performance support team to support and enable them to develop robust and effective athlete plans that are aligned to the 'What It Takes To Win' (WITTW) framework to increase the likelihood of medal outcomes. Create a collaborative environment and facilitate open, consistent, and honest communication between Athletics Australia (AA), Athletics Queensland (AQ), wider QAS and system partners in relation to progress and achievement of stated objectives. In collaboration with, and support of the personal coaches, provide leadership and management to the QAS Performance Support staff to ensure athletes are optimally supported and high performance outcomes are achieved, including: o Facilitating performance team meetings and athlete tracker meetings to review athlete progress, maximise training availability, identify actionable insights and ensure resources are being appropriately invested to maximise impact.
- Managing the Performance Teams to leverage collective expertise and ensure purposeful collaboration towards the agreed performance outcome. Assisting in the identification and development of network coaches by contributing to their development plans, performance reviews and professional development. Working with the personal coach, monitor and evaluate progress against athlete plans and proactively assist in the development of solutions to complex, high performance problems. Effectively collaborating with the Athletics Australia and QAS data teams to ensure quality data insights are used to inform evidenced based decision making. Assisting in the management of internal sport operational budgets, travel plans and yearly plans. Leading annual sport reviews to identify challenges, opportunities and making impactful recommendations. As required lead the planning, including responsibility of operational budget (as allocated) for event group camps for athletes and coaches held locally.
