THE ROLE
Reporting to the Head of Project Controls - Asset Development & Construction, the primary purpose of this role will be to develop, implement and maintain the Asset Generation and Development cost control and performance management tools, team and procedures that fully support the generation and development portfolio, ensuring that all required cost reporting, cost-planning integration, contractor’s cost reporting and change management input occurs seamlessly. The position also holds responsibility for implementing and managing a cost and performance management tool that is used at a project and portfolio level; ensuring good quality data and information; and to lead and supervise the Cost Control Team across the portfolio.
This role is a high impact and key leadership role, requiring the ability to liaise with different disciplines across the Asset Generation and Development environment to deliver key strategic opportunities for Origin.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the establishment, development and implementation of a new Cost and Performance management tool that can operate at a project and portfolio level and is integrated with existing ERP and other systems
- Working across teams to project manage all aspects of the development and implementation of the new system
- Developing and implementing associated procedures for Cost Control, Project and Portfolio reporting and Management of Change
- Training and inducting all cost control staff, and provide support, coaching and SME expertise for new project setups
- Leading the Management of Change (MOC) process and ensure all projects follow the MOC procedure
- Effectively leading and managing the Cost Control Team - Asset Generation and Development; conducting performance reviews and providing guidance, instruction, direction, leadership and support to ensure cohesive teamwork
- Fostering a culture of HSSE participation and leading by example in demonstrating HSSE behaviours that reflect Asset Generation and Development expectations; ensure HSSE behaviour is integrated in all Asset Generation and Development activities; and information is captured, acted on and communicated to meet Origin Energy Health, Safety, Security and Environment Systems and Procedures.

To be considered for this role you will have:
- Degree in Engineering or Quantity Surveying from an accredited university with minimum 10 years project controls experience in EPCM environment.
- Minimum 5 years supervision experience with proven team management skills in a project environment and ability to promote HSSE responsibility within the team.
- Demonstrated ability and functional knowledge of electronic cost control tools, including spreadsheets together with skills in Microsoft Office, PRISM, SAP and Power BI and other relevant software programs.
- Clearly demonstrated strong technical competence in EPCM cost control, tracking / reporting; procurements / contracts; risk analysis; interpret cost / schedule data and prepare forecast reports.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions, meet deadlines and deliver good quality work with high levels of accuracy.
- High level of interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with ability to actively interact and work with Asset Generation and Development and external parties.
- Excellent skills in multi-tasking, prioritization and time management including ability to manage numerous tasks in a demanding environment.
- Demonstrable people leadership to drive a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision, demonstrate initiative and flexibility in approach to work.
- Ability to foster and support an inclusive team environment and demonstrable leadership of Origins Values and Behaviours.
Desirable:
- Significant experience on large-scale oil and gas and/or petrochemical capital projects
- Experience In renewable sector
- AACE Accreditation / Project Management Professional (PMP)
