Principal - Business Improvement

We are currently looking for experienced Principal - Business Improvement for an initial 3 - 6 month duration (potential for extension) working with the BHP Water Management Business System (WMBS). This is Perth based with occasional site visits.

We are currently looking for experienced Principal - Business Improvement for an initial 3 - 6 month duration (potential for extension) working with the BHP Water Management Business System (WMBS). This is Perth based with occasional site visits.

Project scope:
The water strategy is composed of three pillars, one of which is to optimise the current operating model to improve and uplift WAIO water management performance.

The Water Management Business System (WMBS) has been designed to optimize the current operating model, providing the mechanisms to co-ordinate the WAIO Water Management, to manage interfaces and enable system-wide collaboration and decision making in delivery of WAIO's water objectives both in terms of Operations and Social Value in accordance with the WAIO Water Strategy.

In FY21, once the WMBS was designed and endorsed, we have conducted a series of workshop across all water management teams to define, prioritise and plan the improvement initiatives to uplift performance in regard to:

- Mandates
- Capabilities
- Policy and Procedures
- Systems

The outcome was a work plan that the Strategy & Integration still oversees and delivers until today.

We need to refresh our understanding of the performance gaps across the WMBS and across the following teams:

- Water Planning
- Strategic Mine Planning
- IPRO Production Scheduling
- Geoscience
- NPI (managing surplus infrastructure and potable water) - 1 team per site - 4 sites in total
- HSE Environment
- MEM (mobile Equipment Maintenance) - 2 teams per site - 4 sites in total
- Asset Projects
- Engineering project
- GTS
- Business Planning
- Centre of Excellence

The objectives of this project are to:

- Consolidate list of projects that we have progressed in past few years, and reflect on outcomes
- Define the water context/current state, as well as the vision
- Frame, prepare and lead brainstorming sessions with Managers / Superintendents and SMEs to identify performance gaps
- Prioritise the identified improvement initiatives across the WMBS
- Develop a one pager per initiative for all initiatives to deliver in FY24/FY25 to define the objectives, the scope, the risks, the project lead, the SMEs and stakeholders involved, the plan and the resources required
- Gain endorsement at SteerCo mid-oct through a 20 min presentation to Heads Of (could be mid Dec if resource not available before)

We are looking for someone that can demonstrate:

- Prior experience in business improvement mandatory
- Prior experience in mining and/or mine water management will be highly regarded
- Prior experience working with technical groups
- Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to influence across multiple stakeholders
