We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join the team of a Council based in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, as the HR Officer on contract, for an initial 6 weeks with the potential for on-going or permanency.

HR Officer is required to support and assist all areas of the People & Culture team but more specific to the Payroll and Operations team, as well as the Executive Manager People, Culture and Development, particularly for administration and project support tasks and activities.

The role is required to effectively coordinate and undertake the administrative processes relating to the functions within the People & Culture team as required.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Be the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders for HR Support, HR Operations advice and information
- Maintain accurate records and databases of learning and development activities
- Provide project and administration support the Executive Manager
- Management of the PCD Inbox
- Administrative and coordination of tasks through the full employment lifecycle including pre-employment checks, Letters of Offer, onboarding, parental leave documentation, higher duties and position movements and terminations
- Provide advice on the People, Culture and Development procedures relating to recruitment, selection and other general staff management issues
- Facilitate Council's work experience program, including liaising with internal departments, tertiary institutions and students
- Support new employee onboarding and inductions

**Key Requirements**:

- Demonstrated experience in a similar administrative/support position in a fast paced and high-volume transaction and diverse environment
- A strong understanding of human resource practices and procedures, with an understanding of awards and enterprise agreements
- Ability to effectively and efficiently use technology to administer employee transactions from onboarding to contingent workforce systems
- Strong technology focus with proven skills working with the Microsoft Office suite (strong excel skills) and HRIS systems
