We have a high impact, senior level opportunity for a **National Safety, Health, Environment & Sustainability Manager** to join Cement Australia and be front and centre in leading the function. With our diverse business, you will have the interesting challenge and opportunity of working across manufacturing operations, mining (coal and limestone), bulk distribution (road, rail and shipping) and hazardous waste treatment and alternative fuel production.
Bringing a professional, personable and pragmatic approach, you will quickly become known as a hands on and trusted business partner that drives the right performance outcomes. You will use your experience to focus on what is fit for purpose and minimises risk to people and our business. We are fortunate to operate at a speed not possible in larger organisations. **About the role**:
In this highly visible and influential role, you will report to the General Manager Sales, Marketing & Risk and have a small direct team along with a larger functional team to lead. With a business partner mindset, balanced with a strategic yet pragmatic approach you will:
- Review, develop and implement the Safety, Health, Environment and Sustainability Strategy
- Cascade the strategy from a group level to operational level, tailoring to the context, risk and operating environment unique to each site/location
- Develop health and safety capability, coaching team members in your function, line leaders and Executives
- Develop, implement and maintain standardised policies, systems, processes and tools
- Represent Cement Australia's health and safety interests with relevant state, federal and industry bodies and other relevant stakeholder and community groups
- Keep abreast of legislative/regulatory requirements and emerging trends, formulating strategies and programs to ensure compliance and manage risk
- Maintain a clear and open line of communication between Cement Australia and our Shareholder experts and present and report on relevant information to the Board
- Manage the delivery of internal and external assurance processes
**About you**:
- You have previous experience leading a Health, Safety, Environment and Quality function at a senior/group level within a related industry and with relevant qualifications
- Your understanding and interpretation of legislation and emerging trends is exceptional
- You are an excellent communicator and can develop and deliver presentations from operational to Board level
- You are a natural leader with strong interpersonal skills and enjoy coaching others
- Business partnering is your strength - you are a good listener, negotiator and influencer
- You are commercially and strategically astute with a pragmatic approach
- You have experience developing and managing Health, Safety, Environment and Quality systems
