**The Role**
This role requires proficient knowledge of and a high level of expertise in contract management, product management, procurement and finance. You will require strong interpersonal skills to continue to foster effective working stakeholder relationships externally, with our industry partners, and internally with peers, teams and colleagues. These interpersonal skills and business acumen will ensure you effectively manage your team to successfully reach goals, prioritise and track tasks and effect positive changes to the Systems Program Office sustainment and capability. Your decision making will be intelligent and practical and in alignment with high level strategic business objectives.
**About our Team**
The MCPSPO within Maritime Systems Division, is the lead agency for delivery of Cross-Class Sustainment Product and advice across the maritime environment.
MCPSPO sustains and manages a range of complex military systems, contracts and items of supply, through an extensive network of industry partners, domestic and off-shore. Our operating environment is complex and challenging, and requires exceptional contract and relationship management skills.
MCPSPO is comprised of three functions, including Commercial, Sustainment and Engineering cells. The teams work in a complex, fast paced environment as part of a diverse and inclusive Branch environment that encompasses a variety of knowledge, skills and experience within a supportive hierarchy.

To be successful in your role as an EL 1 Product Manager, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Significant contract management experience and a strong understanding of/experience in business management, procurement and finance
- Understand Seaworthiness and the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) requirements within the SPO
- Analyse, develop and implement product management options that achieve optimal use of Defence assets, balancing cost, opportunities and risks against desired asset performance
- Knowledge of or the ability to quickly adapt, learn understand the sustainment environment
- Utilise contract management knowledge as a means to provide excellent service and build a strong relationship with our customers
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and be comfortable with networking with a variety of stakeholders
- High level interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and maintain key working relationships within the SPO and with our industry partners
- Experience managing a team, including mentoring, coaching and developing others
- Strong ability to resolve competing priorities, and accountability to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development of team members
- Ability to drive sustainable change by partnering collaboratively across an organisation and externally
