**The Role**
The Directorate of Maritime Work Health Safety and Environment (DMWSHE), as a business unit within Maritime Support Branch of Maritime Systems Division (MSD), is committed to the deliver the divisional Work Health Safety and Environmental (WHSE) strategic outcome. DMWHSE is also responsible for the ongoing governance and functional management of the WHS and Environmental Management programs in the form of policies, tools, processes, training, support and delivery of risk based assurance.

The Deputy Director WHSE Assurance will manage delivery of WHSE assurance and perform risk based planning, scheduling and execution of program across the MSD sustainment products in accordance with the assurance framework. Core duties include divisional WHSE assurance management, assurance support to business units and undertake performance improvement initiatives.

The WHSE assurance is risk based program that covers:

- MSD Business unit compliance verification with corporate WHSE processes;
- Supplier safety and environment assurance; and
- WHSE performance improvement and reporting.

The DMWHSE team consists of an integrated workforce of APS, Navy and Contractors (above and below the line), located in the Sydney CBD. You will be working with talented colleagues, who will provide you with guidance and support to ensure that you have everything you need to succeed.

You will need to be highly responsive, adaptable, and resilient and demonstrate initiative in the chosen position. You will also be required to keep your knowledge current and relevant to the position.

Experience, skills and ability to effectively engage with high level stakeholders, well developed communication, negotiation and capacity to build long term relationships is essential. Knowledge and experience directing WHSE projects - project development and delivery is highly desirable.
