Under the implementation of the Future Maritime Sustainment Model in New South Wales we have five positions available at the (APS 6) level within the newly established Regional Maintenance Centre
- East (RMC E) team. The RMC-E, along with the Regional Maintenance Provider - East (RMP-E) contractor, will be part of an integrated Commonwealth and Industry workforce that will plan, manage and deliver maintenance on Navy’s surface fleet based at Garden Island, Sydney.
The positions are:
**(APS 6) Governance and Audit Officer**
On behalf of RMC-E and the National Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG), the (APS 6) Governance and Audit Officer within the Commercial team of the RMC-E will work directly to the (EL 1) Deputy Director (Business Manager). They will assist the Deputy Director with the RMC-E plans, policy and governance functions. This is achieved through the management of allocated resources assigned to RMC-E to develop strategies and evaluate business outcomes.
The (APS 6) Governance and Audit Officer is a key member of the RMC-E team, ensuring that NSSG complies with Defence Enterprise Policy and Governance requirements and will work with the RMP-E contractor to ensure they are meeting the stated requirements of the contract and deliver an end-product that meets the stated quality criteria and identified specifications for maintenance work. The (APS 6) Governance and Audit Officer is required to facilitate the auditing of these Accountable Units.
A strong team player with an analytical mind, very good communication skills and proficient with IT systems is being sought to provide support to the RMC-E team. The Governance and Audit Officer will be required to draw on their own technical expertise and experiences to lead, plan and guide audits on behalf of RMC-E and assist where required the NSSG and other related stakeholders on a daily basis.
**(APS 6) Operations and Facilities Officer**
Do you have excellent interpersonal skills, strong procurement, WHS or facilities management and problem solving skills, with a can do attitude?
The (APS 6) Operations and Facilities Officer will work directly to the (EL 1) Deputy Director (Business Manager) and be required to:
- Lead and oversee processes for whole of RMC-E facilities including property management and maintenance, facilities finance and contracts, building security, room bookings, branch vehicle maintenance, new starter inductions, and future facilities planning.
- Work closely with the health safety managers to ensure the RMC-E facilities are compliant with NSSG WH&S documents, procedures and plans.
- Assist and manage RMC-E operational risk management and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to RMC-E projects including assistance with procurement and contract management.
**About our Team**
In response to the Australian Government developing a nationwide naval shipbuilding enterprise the Future Maritime Sustainment Model is being implemented to realise Plan Galileo; National Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group’s national, long term approach to sustainment of the naval fleet. The Regional Maintenance Centre - East is located in Sydney NSW and will provide capability support to the Royal Australian Navy from the Garden Island Defence Precinct (GIDP), a growing hub of activity that is going to be pivotal to Australia’s sovereign Naval capability well into the future.
The focus of this organisation will be on enhanced collaboration, co-ordination, workforce development and expansion to build the capability and capacity needed to meet increasing ship maintenance demands.
