**About the role**

Reporting to the Manager Integrated Planning, this role will lead a talented and passionate team of land use planning, experts to:

- Do their best work and be a high performance team
- Integrate Council’s approach to placemaking into strategic planning work at the precinct, neighbourhood and township levels
- Identify, prioritise and deliver a rolling program of strategic land use planning projects
- Build and nurture critical relationships to progress the strategic planning agenda at state, regional and local levels

**Key Selection Criteria**
**Mandatory Qualifications and Experience**
- A Tertiary qualification in land use planning or related discipline and
- Extensive experience in strategic land use planning and policy development
- Recognised as a people leader, with a good track record of building and empowering teams and positively modelling constructive behaviours along with the ability to set clear priorities and deliver on an agreed work plan
- A pragmatic problem solver and facilitator able to navigate complex strategic land use planning matters with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Well-developed relationship management and communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, Councillors and staff

The successful applicant will also need to meet the below criteria:

- A current WWCC.
- A current Victorian drivers licence

**Desirable Qualifications and Experience**
- Broad experience in a managing a strategic land use planning function
- Experience in planning and delivering integrated planning / placemaking projectsExperience in Local Government
- A strong appreciation of the Surf Coast Shire context
