**Who we are**
The Capability and Engagement Branch works across the division and department to manage biosecurity risk offshore by engaging with international governments, academics and industry to build strong and effective biosecurity controls. We identify opportunities for greater connectivity and information sharing with stakeholders internally and externally to maximise collaboration in a coordinated and consistent manner. The branch also provides critical support divisionally to enhance business capability through the introduction of effective and streamlined corporate, communication, governance, people and financial activities.
The Compliance Partnerships Section comprises a complement of policy development and program delivery with a strong focus on developing and maintaining domestic and international networks. The section contributes to safeguarding Australia’s biosecurity status through building the capacity of international biosecurity agencies to improve biosecurity treatment systems and managing the framework that sets out how the department uses arrangements with industry and other participants across its portfolio legislation.
**The Jobs**
As a Policy/Administration Officer your duties may include, but are not limited to:
- facilitating the timely and accurate maintenance of case files, including a range of record keeping and reporting
- managing and responding to client requests through the section inboxes which involves liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders
- ensuring documentation and correspondence complies with relevant legislation and policy
- assisting with the organisation of meetings and large stakeholder forums, including coordination of travel, correspondence with stakeholders and administrative support tasks
- providing administrative and secretariat support across the section.
**Please note** that this recruitment process will initially be used to fill a number of vacancies in the Compliance Partnerships Section and that these roles may be able to be performed from any of the locations listed on the job description. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.

**Knowledge and experience**
The successful applicants will have some or all of the following:
- Experience liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in administrative support, or completing clerical, procedural or operational tasks including some research and analysis.
- Experience in providing a range of core client services, performing secretariat duties and the coordination of engagement activities.
- A background or experience in biosecurity roles.
